IBM Hiring Freshers : 2010 & 2011 pass-outs

Wish you all a belated Makara Sankranthi... Hope you all guys have enjoyed the festival. Just to recollect the things, I had already posted an wonderful fresher job opportunity last week with Mahindra Satyam. This time it's with the same company with which I am employed.

IBM is certainly a good company to tag in your profile. Now, it's looking for freshers from different streams of education who can join them. They are looking out for 2010 and 2011 fresher pass-outs with a decent academic background. The job location is not yet finalized, which means that you might be deputed to any of the wide IBM locations across India. Another interesting thing to notice is that, they have told that they are willing to accept registrations from most of graduate courses except Pharma/Fashion technology. While the job application process is fully referral based, which means that you can't apply to this selection process all by yourself. So, you have to ask your friends/relatives working in IBM, to apply on your behalf. But, you need not worry if you don't have one from IBM. An application developer at IBM GBS will design applications, write code, test, debug & maintain software applications.

Year of Pass out: 2010 & 2011
Branches: All Majors considered except Pharma/Fashion Technology.
Graduation/Post Graduation as applicable(Aggregate % for all semesters) : 70% for universities outside Maharashtra and 65% for Maharashtra universities
Pre University : 65% 
SSLC : 65%
**All candidates should have completed a minimum of 16 years of formal education .
**Candidates should not have any backlogs at the time of IBM Process

All I can suggest is to not let this opportunity. It's always easy to get job as freshers provided if you get an opportunity to apply as freshers. Now that you have it, I strongly suggest you to work on your technical skills. As a freshers they might not be expecting a lot from you but, you should prepare yourself to  deliver a lot. Focus on the basics, go through the skills which are good at thoroughly and the others you should at-least  be able to answer the theoretical questions. 

Learn to write small program's when asked by interviewer. I can say focus on C, C++, Java, Oracle, Unix Commands. You can choose to select between C/C++/Java but, make yourself comfortable with basics of Unix and Database. This doesn't mean that you can leave your communication and aptitude skills. Focus on them too, as they might help you to go through the first round of written tests if any.
